The company started out making laboratory equipment and soon moved into the theatre, building the first light dimmer for the city theatre of Mechelen (Malines), which ran for more than forty years. ADB introduced its first spotlights in 1938 and grew into one of Europe's leading names in stage and studio lighting, supplying theatres, music halls and broadcast studios across the continent.

The restoration

The spotlight was cleaned and rewired with an E27 fitting, approx. 3 m of cord, an inline switch and an EU plug; the bulb shown is included.
