Cremer was founded in Paris around 1920 by André Cremer and later run by his son William. Through the 1950s Cremer spotlights lit the great Parisian revues as well as film and television productions. The company closed in 1977, when quartz-halogen projectors replaced the older Fresnel designs, but its fixtures are still sought after by collectors and set designers. Most surviving Cremer units turn up in black; this one has its original blue hammered finish. The housing carries the stamp Bté SGDG, the French patent marking used until 1968, which confirms its period of manufacture.

The restoration

We restored the matching Cremer tripod, keeping its signed bolts, and rewired the spotlight while keeping its original E27 fitting. The barndoors and the ventilation tray, which let heat escape during long hours on stage, are original.

In your interior

Spotlight and stand from the same maker, surviving together, is rare. With the barndoors on for the full theatrical look, or off for a cleaner line, it gives a loft, studio or living room real presence.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0847/7029/2048/files/BlitzcraftVintage_Antiques_specialLightinganddecorJuly16_162van341.jpg?v=1784196196
