Large and rare 1950s Double-Faced Railway Clock by Rundfunk- und Fermeldetechnik, Completely restored Vintage German Industrial Timepiece converted to Quartz Mechanism.

Step into history with this Rare Vintage Double-Faced Railway Clock by RFT, a genuine timepiece from the 1950s German railway stations. Once part of a central timekeeping system, this iconic clock used to synchronize train schedules with utmost precision. Fully restored and refinished, it’s ready to bring industrial elegance to your home or business. Please understand it's still a vintage item so there could be signs of wear.

Restoration Process:
Each detail has been meticulously reimagined, from its custom vinyl dial stickers designed to match the original face, the newly added high-torque mechanism ensures precision, and the LED strip provides customizable lighting that transforms this clock into a stunning illuminated centerpiece.
This clock saw decades of wear before being meticulously restored. The metal body got a satin retro green finish. We've added new Transparent Plexiglass covers and redesigned the light-transmitting Opal dial face.

We mounted two High Torque Quartz Clock mechanisms and re-used the original clock hands. It works on 2 Batteries in total (not included).

Originally it was a TL Light-up clock, we've modernized it by adding a LED-strip inside. Adjustable in brightness, you can pick your own colors, and you can even activate different disco/blinking programs. It comes with a remote control.

Design and Functionality:
Its double-sided design allows for time to be read from both directions, ideal for large open spaces such as lofts, industrial-themed restaurants, or shops. With its impressive size and striking presence, this clock is both a functional and decorative statement piece. It has a small door on the side so you can easily switch batteries.

History of RFT:
Rundfunk- und Fernmelde-Technik (RFT) was not a single company but a consortium of state-owned enterprises in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR), specializing in radio and telecommunications technology. Established in 1946, prior to the GDR's founding, RFT served as a collective brand for various manufacturers in the industry.

In the 1950s and 1960s, RFT produced a range of industrial clocks designed for use in factories, railway stations, and public buildings. These clocks were known for their robust steel casings and clear, functional designs. Many featured double-sided faces and internal illumination, making them easily readable in large spaces.

Today, vintage RFT clocks from the 1950s are appreciated for their industrial aesthetic and historical significance, reflecting the design and manufacturing standards of East Germany during that era.
