🎥 The Story of Bardwell & McAlister
B&M was one of Hollywood's most celebrated manufacturers of professional film and studio lighting equipment. Their Keg Lights: named for their distinctive barrel shape became a standard fixture on film sets, television studios, and broadcast stages across the United States.
During the 1940s, B&M had over 200 employees in five separate plants in southern California and even published its own in-house newspaper called The Spotlight. The company dedicated three of those facilities to producing military equipment for the war effort, adapting the design of their camera dollies and production equipment for the cause.
After the war, B&M returned to what they did best. Their Keg Lights, with their thick metal housings, cast brass details, and 6-inch Fresnel lenses became some of the most sought-after pieces of Hollywood's golden age.
The Financial Times described them as lights that "exude an unparalleled sense of aesthetics" noting that B&M Keg Lights with their Fresnel lenses are particularly sought-after among collectors.
🌿 Authentic Patina
This lamp was on a real set. It was handled by real grips, lit real scenes, and survived real decades. The semi-polished finish preserves that history: honest marks of use that no replica can recreate, and no amount of money can manufacture.
