Shipping costs calculated at checkout
In 1875 Paul Decauville built a railway empire: narrow-gauge iron wagons that moved coal, ore and earth through mines and quarries across France and beyond. This is one of those wagons, from the 1920s, now a coffee table with a solid oak top.

The story
Decauville’s portable rail systems were used in mines across France, exported worldwide and deployed in both World Wars for military logistics. This wagon spent its working life underground, hauling ore through narrow shafts. That it survives with its original chassis and wheel assembly intact says everything about Decauville’s build quality.
The restoration
We stripped the wagon and finished it in satin black, keeping the riveted cast-iron structure and all original metalwork. The solid oak top in Castle Brown Monocoat sits flush across the full width of the chassis, made to complement the iron rather than compete with it.
In your interior
This is not furniture made to look industrial; it is industrial, repurposed as furniture. A centrepiece for a restaurant, hotel lobby, loft or high-end interior, where the rivets, worn wheel flanges and sheer scale do the talking.
