Hala Zeist Banker’s Clamp Lamp, 1930s | Rare Two-Arm Desk Light with Rectangular Shade, Dutch Bauhaus
Shipping costs calculated at checkout
One of the more unusual Hala lamps we have found: a two-arm clamp lamp from the 1930s with a long rectangular shade. It was probably made to order for a jeweller, banker, architect or draughtsman who needed even light across a whole desk.

The story
Hala was founded in Zeist in 1932 and became one of the first Dutch lighting manufacturers. Designer H.Th.J.A. Busquet gave its work lamps their sober, precise character, and they were used in workshops, offices and drawing rooms across the Netherlands. A rectangular shade of this size is rare in Hala’s work, which suggests a special order.
The restoration
We converted the fluorescent shade to two E14 sockets, rewired the lamp and checked it. The black finish and its patina are original.
In your interior
Clamped to a desk, drawing table or workbench, the long shade lights a wide surface evenly. A piece for collectors of Dutch industrial design as much as a working lamp.
