The story
Hala was founded in Zeist in 1932 and became one of the first Dutch lighting manufacturers. Designer H.Th.J.A. Busquet gave its work lamps their sober, precise character, and they were used in workshops, offices and drawing rooms across the Netherlands. The Model 98 is a compact desk lamp in the same sober design language, with a heavy base and pivoting shade.
The restoration
We added a new switch on the cord. The beige finish is original and shows its age.
In your interior
Soft in colour and small in size, it suits a study, bedroom or a mid-century interior where a black work lamp would feel too hard.
