The story
Heraeus of Hanau, Germany, built operating lights under the Hanaulux name. The London model combines three lenses in one head, so the light reaches the operating field from different angles and the surgeon's hands cast no hard shadows.
The restoration
The housing was refinished in anthracite grey, the three blue glass lenses were kept, and the lamp was rewired with three G9 fittings, approx. 3 m of cord, a switch and an EU plug; LED bulbs are included. The tripod was made from old wooden army medical crutches, which gives the lamp a second layer of history.
In your interior
Next to a sofa or reading chair, in a loft, studio or boutique hotel lobby, it gives strong, directable light and a sculptural silhouette. A piece for interior architects and collectors of medical design.
