The story
Midgard lamps were made for workshops, factories and design studios, valued for their mechanical precision and freely adjustable arms. The R1 is one of the most collectible models and a forerunner of later Bauhaus-era task lights.
The restoration
The metal parts were sandblasted and refinished in satin black; the aluminium shade is original. The lamp was rewired with a new E27 fitting, approx. 3 m of cord, an inline switch and an EU plug, and mounted on a sturdy custom base.
In your interior
On a desk, workbench or next to a reading chair, the R1 places light exactly where you need it: a working piece of German industrial design.
