The story
Midgard, the German lighting firm associated with designer Curt Fischer, made adjustable lamps for workshops, factories and drawing offices from the early 20th century. Their mechanical precision and freely movable arms made them forerunners of later Bauhaus-era task lights, and today they are sought-after collector's pieces. The large scissor lamps were made for workshops and drawing offices, where light had to reach across a workbench or drawing table.
The restoration
We kept the original army green paint with its patina and signs of wear, and refinished the shade in matte black. The lamp was rewired with approx. 3 m of cord, an inline switch and an EU plug, and holds an E27 fitting; a bulb is included.
In your interior
Next to a bed, above a desk, workbench or reading chair, or along a kitchen wall: fold it flat against the wall or extend it into the room. A rare piece of German industrial design history.
