A large 1950s Philips HDK 400 factory pendant, with a blasted aluminium top and a retro red shade. Made in the Netherlands for industrial halls, now renovated for a dining table, kitchen island or restaurant.

The story
Philips made the HDK series in the Netherlands in the 1950s to light factories and workshops. The cast-aluminium top once housed a heavy transformer, while the deep shade throws the light straight down onto the work floor.
The restoration
The top was sandblasted and the shade refinished in retro red, keeping its original grey aluminium inside. The heavy original transformers were removed so the lamp is much lighter and easier to hang, and it was rewired to an E27 fitting.

Above a dining table, kitchen island or bar, alone or in a row. Every lamp has its own signs of age, so there may be small differences between the pieces you receive.
