The story
Philips made the HDK series in the Netherlands in the 1950s to light factory halls and workshops. The cast-aluminium top once housed a heavy transformer; under it hangs a large enamel shade that throws the light straight down onto the work floor. Today these pendants are among the most recognisable Dutch industrial lights.
The restoration
We sandblasted the cast-aluminium tops, polished the grey enamel shades that were fitted to them and rewired each lamp. The heavy transformers have been removed.
In your interior
Above a kitchen island, a dining table or a bar, one makes a statement and a row of them creates a series. Each lamp differs slightly, which keeps a series lively.
