The story
SIS made utilitarian lighting for German factories, workshops and design studios. Its early scissor lamps reflect the Bauhaus principle of form following function, and they are now collected. This one has survived nearly a century of use.
The restoration
We took the lamp apart, blasted it and refinished it in midnight black. The structure is original; the wiring and fitting are new so it can be used every day.
In your interior
Above a desk, a reading chair or a kitchen worktop, the long arm brings the light exactly where you need it. On a bare wall it reads as a piece of industrial sculpture.
