The story
ADB was founded in Belgium in 1920 by Adrien De Backer. It began with laboratory equipment, built some of the earliest reliable stage dimmers, and by the late 1930s was making spotlights for theatres, opera houses, television studios and touring productions across Europe. The SP series reflects the robust, no-compromise craftsmanship of that era.
The restoration
We cleaned the spotlight, rewired it and tested it. The mechanical beam control on the back still lets you shift from a wide flood to a focused spot. The patina is original.
In your interior
Smaller than the SP.1000, the SP.5 suits a kitchen, hallway, home cinema or shop where a full-size stage lamp would be too much. Several can be hung as a series.
