The story

This spotlight is a PAR fixture, a type of stage lighting built around a sealed-beam PAR lamp, short for Parabolic Aluminised Reflector, where the bulb, reflector, and lens all sit combined in one sealed unit rather than as separate parts. The format was developed in the United States and reached British and European stages from the late 1960s, prized for a strong, punchy beam that could cut through saturated stage colours and hold up to heavy nightly use without much fuss. By the early 1970s, PAR fixtures had become a workhorse of the touring concert and rock industry as well as the theatre, valued for being lightweight, close to indestructible, and simple to focus and colour with gels.

This particular fixture has been fully rewired for safe home use, fitted with an E27 fitting and roughly 2 metres of three-way cord, ready for hardwiring into a ceiling point, and comes with a chain so it can be hung straight away over a dining table, kitchen island, or bar. The spotlight head still tilts and rotates freely, so the beam can be aimed exactly where it is needed rather than left fixed in one direction. The bulb shown in the photographs is included.

Suited to lofts, restaurants, studios, retail spaces, and modern industrial interiors, anywhere a genuine piece of stage lighting history would make a bolder, more characterful pendant than anything built to imitate it.
