The story
Philips made the HDK series in the Netherlands in the 1950s to light factory halls and workshops. The cast-aluminium top once housed a heavy transformer; under it hangs a large enamel shade that throws the light straight down onto the work floor. Today these pendants are among the most recognisable Dutch industrial lights.
The restoration
We cleaned and rewired each lamp, removed the heavy transformer and added a hanging ring. The patina is left as found.
