The story
Philips made the HDK series in the Netherlands in the 1950s to light factories and workshops. The cast-aluminium top once housed a heavy transformer, while the deep shade throws the light straight down onto the work floor.
The restoration
The top and shade were renovated (polished aluminium), the heavy original transformers were removed so the lamp is now much lighter and easier to hang, and the lamp was rewired to an E27 fitting.
In your interior
Above a dining table, kitchen island or restaurant counter, alone or in a row. Every lamp has its own signs of age, so there may be small differences between the pieces you receive.
