The story
Zumtobel Staff is the Austrian lighting maker behind countless offices, shops and public buildings. This pendant was produced in the 1980s and designed by Charles Keller, with a clean industrial geometry typical of the period. The shade was made by Fairtrade craftspeople in India, who clean, cut and nail reclaimed tin sheets into shape using traditional flat-nail techniques.
The restoration
We cleaned the original Zumtobel top, rewired it with a new E27 fitting and approx. 3 m of cord, and fitted it with the handmade tin shade. The printed markings of the old tin barrels remain visible.
